Aston Martin has been around since 1913 and the company started racing its cars in 1922. Aston Martin has enjoyed a huge amount of success in motor racing with David Brown at the helm in the 1940's and 1950's. In the late 1950's they enjoyed great success with their DBR1 and Stirling Moss, possibly the best British Grand Prix driver ever. After quite a break, Aston Martin returned to Le Mans in 2005 with the amazing DBR9 GT1 followed by the successful Vantage N24, these cars being closely based on the road cars that we know and love. Aston Martin returned to their winning ways in 2007 at Le Mans with their DBR9 getting a class win and a further 5 cars all finishing the race. 2009 saw Aston Martin enter the top tear LMP (Le Mans Prototype) series with their successful Aston Martin Lola DBR1-2, winning the championship in this year and the infamous AMR-One.

AMR, formerly known as Aston Martin Racing, has maintained its successful partnership with ProDrive and their line of Vantage GT3 V12, GTE V8, and GT4 road car-based V8s. These models have been replaced in 2018/19 by the new Vantage V8, equipped with an AMG twin-turbo engine. Aston Martin's AMR continues to see success through its factory teams.
